Although RIM began discussions with China Mobile about launching a Blackberry service, one of the other two major mobile service providers "Chine Unicom" (CHU) has launched its own Redberry push email service.

The name "Redberry" refers to the China's national color "red" and RIM's populair push email service ("~berry"). Will Redberry become a local success on China's mainland market?

It's not Research in Motion but a smaller company in Germany "Conrad Electronic GmbH" who is the new owner of "RIM.eu". The time difference between applications for the domain name was less then 5 minutes.

According to the EUROid whois database, the domain registration RIM.eu is approved and accepted for Conrad Electronic GmbH. Research in Motion has until the 30th of April to raise objection against the new domain owner. Nevertheless Research in Motion is first in line for the domain registration of "blackberry.eu".

So now Webraska will release a Navigation package for the most populair business device, I'm wondering if other players on the market, like TomTom and Route66, will follow this very good example.

Since I'm intensively travelling through Europe for an international project, the company provided me with a UMTS/3G datacard in order to keep up with my email and calendar at airports and hotels. Now, 9 months later, I want to get rid of that card ASAP:

- Poor 3G network coverage within EMEA
- 384 Kbps still feels like thick @!$%# through a thin straw
- Exceptional roaming costs: 2,50 euro / MB within EMEA, 5,00 / MB for Switzerland

I have my personal Blackberry which is much better, but it wasn't syncing OTA. Now I requested a corporate BB account on the BES so I can read the mail and sync the agenda. Pushmail, realtime, flatfree and best of all... no more 3G frustrations.
